The Greater Columbus Arts Council, in collaboration with the city of Columbus, will select one neighborhood in the city each year. Artists from the selected neighborhood are invited to propose an art
project that actively engages the community in that neighborhood. All artistic disciplines are encouraged

Who is eligible to apply?
This grant program is for individuals across disciplines who meet the following criteria:
• Have permanent residency in the South Side of Columbus (as defined by the Columbus
Department of Neighborhoods – Columbus Southside Area Commission AND Far South Columbus
Area Commission boundaries)
• Are professional, working artists (age 18 and older);
o Definition: individuals who devote a significant portion of their time to the creation of
personal artwork. The professional artist is likely paid for performances, sells their
artwork, or shares their independent body of work with the public on a regular basis.
Individuals working in a creative industry primarily producing commercial work are not
eligible. Artists should be focused on realizing their own creative or aesthetic ideas,
rather than on documentation or journalism. The term “artist” applies broadly across
disciplines, including performing, visual, literary, film, fashion and multi-disciplinary
• Are NOT enrolled as degree-seeking undergraduate students.
NOTE: Award recipients must remain residents of Franklin County for the entire grant period (one year).
What is the fellowship award amount?
Larger projects (based on budget and impact) are eligible for $10,000. Smaller projects (based on budget
and impact) are eligible for $5,000. These funds are intended to cover the costs of the project and
payment to all artists involved. Applicants selected will receive a 1099 for awards $600 and over.

- Free Wifi: The Smart Columbus team of community partners will test ways to make in-home internet access more affordable and reliable for everyone in Columbus, starting with the South Side.
- We are looking for up to 300 volunteers to try in-home internet service for a year. For this program, we’re looking for participants who: Have children or family members who are completing distance learning of any kind in the home, and For South Side residents, between Southwood Ave. and Hosack St., and between High St. and Ann St. If you are eligible and would like to participate, please submit your interest here, and you will receive your next steps from the Cbus WiFi team: https://cbuswifi.com/

- Solicitation Code Amendments: Attached is a FAQ and the proposed amendments. City Council held a hearing on March 10, 2021 where an amendment to the city ordinance on soliciting was heard. - Do you care about trees?: We are excited to share that the Urban Forestry Master Plan draft is now available for your review! Deadline for public comment is Weds. March 31. Columbus Recreation and Parks Department’s new Urban Forestry Master Plan is the first citywide, strategic plan to invest long-term in Columbus’ trees. Over the next decades, the Urban Forestry Master Plan will serve as a blueprint for revitalizing our urban forest and strategically investing in neighborhoods where trees will do the most good. - Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program: Due to the continued COVID-19 pandemic, we will be delivering $50 produce boxes to eligible SFMNP participants accepted into the program throughout Summer 2021. - Columbus Public Health is opening registration for our “No Waste” list: We sometimes have COVID-19 vaccines left over at the end of a clinic due to no-shows. The health disparities present in our community have been made even more apparent during this pandemic. In an effort to reach our most vulnerable populations we are opening registration for any individual under 60 that does not currently qualify for vaccination. This list is capped at 250 people.

- Climate Action Plan: Councilmember Emmanuel V. Remy will host a virtual hearing to discuss and gather resident feedback on the City of Columbus’ Climate Action Plan (CAP). Please join us on Tuesday, March 9th at 5 pm on Facebook live to hear a presentation on the CAP from the Sustainable Columbus team. - Demand Reduction: Join Councilmember Mitchell Brown on March 10 at 3:00pm to discuss changes to the solicitation code focused on reducing demand. We seek participants that aspire toward a safe, opportunity-rich South Side that maximizes diversity, builds relationships, secures and advances current residents, all while maintaining the unique fabric of the community. - USPS: I reached out to Congresswoman Beatty’s office about some of the neighborhood complaints about USPS. They shared that if you are having issues about mail service, please call the USPS Consumer Affairs line at 513-684-5794. USPS is constantly hiring to try and make sure all the routes are covered. If one person calls off, that requires a substitute, and that sub may be pulling double duty resulting in late, late mail. However, those concerns should still be directed to Consumer Affairs. There may be an underlying issue which they can then try to address.
