Westland Area Commission kicks off 2021 elections

Westland Area Commission is seeking community minded people who live, work, or own property within the boundaries of our area to serve on our commission. Three of our commissioners are ending their terms (though some may run again), and we have two open seats.

If you are interested in helping to make Westland in Columbus a better place to live for everyone, we are interested in you! We have several active committees that you could be part of including Zoning, Parks and Rec, Public Health and Safety, Community Relations, Education, and Planning and Development. Whatever interests, skills, and talents you bring to the table, we can put them to work for the residents and businesses of Westland.

To run for a seat on Westland Area Commission, you will need to:

  1. Complete the Candidate Profile Form (Word doc).
  2. Do one of the following:
    a. Obtain 20 signatures from Westland area residents on our Petition Form (Word doc).
    b. Submit two Letters of Recommendations following these guidelines (Word doc).
  3. Send us your Candidate Profile along with either the completed Petition or Letters of Recommendation.

Send all materials to westlandareacommission@gmail.com. All materials must be received by August 22, 2021.

If we get more applications than we have open seats, we will hold the election by paper ballot on Saturday, August 28, time and location TBA. Either way, terms last three years and will commence on January 1, 2022.

Thank you for considering running to serve on Westland Area Commission. If you don’t live, work, or own property in our commission area but you know a community-minded person who does, please share this information with them.
